Kinesio Taping
Dr. Jonathan Gerrard, our chiropractor uses Kinesio taping methods to alleviate your pain and improve sport performance.
What is Kinesio Taping?
Kinesio Tape and the method of Kinesio Taping, created by Dr. Kenzo Kase over 25 years ago, is popular in the sports medicine and athletic communities. Initially used by sports medicine doctors, physiotherapists, and chiropractors, it’s now widely adopted by healthcare providers and top athletes, including Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh.
What is Kinesio Taping used for?
Primarily it is used to support muscles and joints without restricting circulation or range of motion. It’s commonly used for injury prevention, pain relief, and muscle relaxation. Based on kinesiology, the science of muscle movement, it improves muscle function, circulation, and lymphatic flow. Unlike traditional sports taping, it allows continuous movement and support. This method is effective for a wide range of conditions, including headaches, foot issues, carpal tunnel, back pain, knee injuries, shoulder pain and more. It is also used for post-surgical edema and as a preventative treatment for athletes.
